Knitting by Blind Faith

My Decision

Since my dad and stepmom were coming down to visit, I decided to take the sensible approach and do one sock at a time. RAM suggested that I should tackle on new thing at a time, which I thought was good advice. So, I’ll do the toe-ups first singly, and then maybe two at a time.

It seems that I will be able to finish each sock separately before I would have finished the pair together (they go that much more quickly for me one at a time). Until today, things were going swimmingly, but I’m still not happy with the short-row heel. When I finally knit one that I could live with, and was about 90% finished, I got a phone call from work *scream*, and the needle came out of all the stitches, so I had to frog it. Perhaps, I’ll have better luck tomorrow. I plan to have a drink later, and I’m not sure short rows and alcohol mix well, so I may or may not knit tonight.

My stepmom and I went to visit the girls at Knit Night. Judah and Chosen were both there, and Judah showed me her socks with the short row heels, which she knit using Cat Bordhi’s technique. She tried to explain it. I don’t understand it fully, but those socks sure looked awesome! I can’t wait to try the technique sometime.

Abigail was also there tonight. She was on her way home after a trip to visit her mom, and she showed me the softest cashmere, merino, and silk/alpaca yarns. She plans to knit gifts for her mom with them, and I’m sure her mom will love them.

I so enjoyed seeing everyone who was there tonight and looking at all the neat projects, from socks, to bibs, to vests. My stepmother wishes she lived here, to, as she thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Well, I think my family thinks I’m being antisocial, so I’m off to relax and knit (yes, I’ve decided to try the heel again tonight). Maybe I’ll get that heel done yet.

Tomorrow, walks with Joy, the treadmill/workout room, and the pool are on everyone’s agenda. We all need exercise after the way we have been eating!

It sure was nice having you and your step mom take some vacation time and visit our group. You guys were having so much fun and shared it with us. But thats the thoughtful Faith. Stay as sweet as you are.
