I gave blood today, so I’m feeling a bit icky (which is par for the course). Normally, the blood mobile gives us a few days notice, but this time, they called a fellow employee last night and said they would be at my job today. Consequently, I didn’t prepare: no extra water; no sugary foods.
Luckily, God provided. My friend and neighbor, I., made stuffed peppers after we worked out last night, and she gave me one. It made for a hearty lunch. I also had an emergency envelope of hot cocoa in my desk, which came in handy.
I. and I have started walking one of the bridges in our area three nights a week. It is tall, a mile in length, and it gets quite windy. Add to that a dog (Joy) who doesn’t know any pace under three miles per hour, and the fact that once you make it to the other end, you have no choice but to walk back across to get to the car, and you have quite a good workout.
I’ve already noticed results. My blood pressure today was 112/80, which is the lowest it has been in awhile.
If you don’t give blood regularly, I would encourage you to do so, even if you are afraid of needles. My dad got me started, and I have given 22 pints to date with this blood bank. It’s not always pleasant. I have difficult veins, and had to get stuck in both arms today in order to give (the second stick was voluntary on my part).
Others in my life have done a lot for me: rides to knit night or to the store, helping me out of knitting messes… It feels really good to give back!

Well, I want to thank you all for your prayers and project ideas. What awesome encouragement!
I decided to work on the Lion Brand Diagonal Baby Blanket. It’s pretty, and it makes for great public knitting.
I brought RAM’s felted socks to show and tell.
Abigail taught the group how to do a tubular bind-off, and I was blessed with an actual hands-on demonstration of the technique by Judah and The Healing Teacher, who are both accomplished knitters. I consider myself blessed beyond measure to be surrounded by such wonderful women who not only share my love of knitting, but whose individual gifts and talents make their teaching a symphony. (Remember the deaf alien’s chorus of interpreters in Star Trek TNG? What was his name, Reva??? Now, I’ll have to go pull the DVD!)
When I came home, I got the greatest blessing of all: RAM made me dinner and did the laundry! This guy is totally awesome!
When I needed more yarn on Saturday to finish his socks, he ran into the store for me and not only came out with the correct color and dye lot, but also a new knitting bag.
This is big enough to prepare for possibly any and every knitting emergency on the road. And it’s great for stash management at home, too.
Isn’t he awesome? He bought me this instead of buying an inflatable kayak or a CB. Now, I just need to teach him how to knit!
Hey, honey, if I buy you a CB and an inflatable kayak, and I promise to run every HAM net in the area for a year, AND talk on the CB *gasp*, will you learn how to knit?

Okay, guys, I need your help. RAM’s socks have been finished for three days (more about that in a future post), and I am totally not motivated to cast anything on. My hands want to knit; they miss it. I have lots of yarn; I have projects in mind. But there is no motivation there whatsoever.
Here’s the emergency. Tonight is Knit Night. If I don’t have something on my needles, I’m going to show up at Knit Night looking like a muggle!
Help! I need your suggestions to get me out of this funk. This is a first for me.
